Rahman posted some screenshots of the Google Wallet interface, and it’s extremely evident that Google is bringing back the old name. We see the Wallet branding all over the interface. So, it looks like Google wants to make Wallet a feature for the whole GPay experience.
Google added the Wallet interface to bring everything together
Earlier this year, sources found that Google wanted to create an all-in-one digital wallet for all of your cards and more. The company hired Arnold Goldberg who is an ex-PayPal executive to help build this financial platform, and it looks like this will be one of the company’s first major changes. Looking at the screenshots, we see Google’s classic aesthetic over a revamped interface. We see that Google is using the Wallet branding to refer to a specific aspect of the GPay app. We see things like “Wallet settings” and “Your data in Wallet”. Within the wallet, you’ll see the option to add cards to it. On the bottom of the screen, we see the rounded button with the “Add Card” text. Up top, you’re supposed to see your added cards, and under that, we see some tips and services that are available. When it comes to adding cards, you’re not only allowed to add your credit and debit cards. Again, Google wants this to be a fully-featured digital wallet, so you’ll be able to add more. The app will give you the option to add reward cards, gift cards, loyalty cards, and even transit cards like passes. Along with the new Wallet interface, the company unveiled a new icon. This icon, of course, has the minimalist design that we see with Google products. Also, the icon is shaped more to resemble an actual wallet.
