Google Meet has long offered the ability to switch between multiple accounts. This enables users to disconnect from their work and switch focus to their personal life after work hours. They can use the same app to video call with friends and family but via a different account. Google recently merged Meet with Duo, its almost forgotten video calling app. An identical feature is now rolling out to the new unified app as well. According to 9to5Google, who first reported this rollout, the setting to switch your Google account in the new Meet app resides under the hamburger menu on the left side of the search bar. “You now get a standard account switcher that notes your Google One status,” the publication states. This is a change from the original three-dot menu on the right side. The addition of the new navigation bar also brings an account avatar in place of the previous three-dot menu. As on the original, unmerged Meet app, you can swipe on your account avatar to switch accounts. It works the same way as on the Google Play Store. Apart from your account settings, the navigation bar in the updated Google Meet also features the Privacy in Meet and Help & feedback sections. The Settings section further houses Calling and Meeting settings as well. The overall UI and menu text also see minor changes to be clearer. Specifically, Google has renamed several “Duo” references.
Google Meet gets a navigation drawer too
Google has been removing the navigation drawer from some of its apps lately, including the Play Store. But some other apps such as Google Messages are gaining one. The latter is also picking up Google Photos integration, though it has yet to roll out widely. Google Meet, meanwhile, is now rolling out a navigation drawer with an account switcher. These changes to Google Meet are rolling out with version 174 of the app for Android. You can click the button below to download the latest version from the Google Play Store.
