In Pixel Arena, you will be able to select a game of your choice — including past games — and immerse yourself into a 3D virtual world that will let you enjoy the game you love in a whole new way. The feature uses your phone’s gyroscope to let you navigate around the arena. You can create avatars and personalize them with your favorite team’s gear and accessories. These avatars can be shared on other platforms too. Pixel Arena will also provide fans with 3D shot recaps based on real-time NBA data. Shots from the first half of the game are mapped on the virtual arena so you can relive interesting moments and see how your team performed. “The experience brings a whole new meaning to courtside,” Google says. You can also challenge yourself with a basketball trivia test in Pixel Arena. It will test your NBA knowledge with game-specific trivia based on live data from the game. The more games you attend, the more opportunities you get to climb the leaderboard. This will unlock new levels and more “swag” for your avatar. You will also be able to create more shareable content.
Google boosts NBA partnership with Pixel Arena
Google has been long associated with the NBA. Last year, the Google Pixel became the “Official Fan Phone” of the NBA. As part of a multi-year deal, the 2022 NBA Playoffs are presented by Google Pixel while the NBA Finals are presented by YouTube TV. Now, for the first time, the two parties — Google and NBA — are jointly developing an immersive space for fans to take the game they love to the next level. According to the official announcement, Pixel Arena will be available to all NBA fans via the NBA mobile app. This is regardless of the brand or operating system of the device. If you’re a regular NBA watcher, you might find Pixel Arena pretty interesting.
