Hulu will stream 20th Century Studio non-theatrical movies and shows
Right now, our entertainment industry almost hinges on streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and so many others. Consequently, making deals and partnerships with companies to get content is key. This is why so many companies clamor to make deals with studios to gain exclusive streaming rights. Hulu, one of the most popular (and oldest) streaming services out there, has a deal with 20th Century Studios. With this deal, people will see 20th Century Studio movies through Hulu. This deal doesn’t mean that the company will shlep all of its movies onto the streaming platform. Hulu won’t stream most of the company’s bigger movies designated for movie theaters. The president of 20th Century Studios, Steve Asbell, told the Hollywood Reporter (via The Streamable) that the company will release its smaller projects to Hulu. These are movies that would have previously been called “straight-to-DVD” movies. This includes new installments of the Predator and Alien franchises. “Prey”, a movie in the Predator series, is planned to launch on Hulu sometime in the summer. Not only that but there’s a new prequel series based on the show Fargo in the works.
In Other Streaming News: Disney+ will get a new ad-supported tier
Most people like Disney+. This streaming service gives us the complete collection of movies and shows from Disney. You get classics like Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs to modern hits like Encanto. While that makes people want to get it, the price doesn’t sometimes. You pay $7.99/month for it, which puts it under services like Netflix and HBO Max. However, a cheaper tier definitely helps. That help will come in the form of a new payment tier. Disney+ announced that it will implement a new and cheaper plan for those who want to watch the same content at a lower price. The only thing is that there will be ads on this tier. Ads might show before and during content; much like with Hulu and Tubi. There’s no telling how long the ad breaks will be or how frequent they will show up. However, one thing is for certain; Disney will need to keep an eye on the types of ads that show on the platform. Since It’s targeted at kids, parents will not want their kids exposed to ads for anything inappropriate.
