Android 12 is now rolling out to the Motorola Moto G50, the 4G version
The update arrives with the build number S1RF32.27-25, and it was first spotted for the XT2137-1-DS model of the device, which is available in the UK. It should become available in other markets soon, if it hasn’t already. Also, there are two variants of the Moto G50 out there, and they’re fairly different. There are 4G and 5G models. The update that we’re talking about here is for the 4G variant of the device, the model with the Snapdragon 480. The Moto G50 5G comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. That device is not yet getting Android 12, at least not that we’ve noticed. The rollout to that model could commence soon as well, though. As per usual, when it comes to OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, you’ll have to wait until your phone notifies you the update is available. You can, of course, check for it manually, if you want, through the phone’s Settings.
You can also flash the update manually via the company’s official software
If you’re unwilling to wait, though, you can update manually via the company’s Rescue and Smart Assistant Tool. Do note that you’ll need to flash it if you end up using that tool. If you don’t know exactly what you’re doing, we recommend you to wait for the update to arrive the easy way. So, what can you expect out of this update? Well, Google’s new Material You design will be included, and the same goes for a revamped notification panel. You’ll get some privacy features as well, including the Privacy Dashboard. Motorola included some of its own features, of course, most of which you’re already familiar with, as they’ve been here with Android 11 as well. Features like Fast flashlight, Flip to DNS, and Quick capture. Android 12 is expected to roll out to more Motorola smartphones in the near future.
