If you recall, Google decided to revamp its system media player to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing. During the Android 13 beta, Google played around with a couple of different designs for the media player, and it ultimately landed on the final design.
Spotify is rolling out support for the Android 13 media player
Listening to music, you’ll see the new UI that Google has made up. The album cover art still encompasses the entire card. Also, you still have the fun squiggly progress bar. But, let’s get down to the changes. The play/pause button now sits on the right side of the UI in a big bubbly button. The pause button is a rounded square while the play button is a circle. The progress bar is flanked by a skip track and previous track button with the shuffle and heart buttons off to the right side. The interface will look a bit different if you’re listening to a podcast. You still have the large play pause button on the right side. The progress bar takes up more of the card and it’s flanked by the fast forward 15 seconds and rewind 15 seconds buttons. Off to the right side, you have a play speed control button and the Add to library button. These changes aren’t drastic, but it’s nice to know that Spotify is keeping up with this Android app. Not too long ago, Spotify rolled out its Material You-themed icon. This icon changes its color based on your phone’s color scheme. Since this update is rolling out, there’s a chance that you won’t see it just yet. If you want to check, search for Spotify on the Google Play Store and see if there’s an update button on the page. If so, stop it to update the app.
