SVP is a brand new video player for Android that comes with MEMC support
What is MEMC and why is it a big deal? Well, MEMC stands for ‘Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation’. What does it do exactly? Long story short, it will make your videos smoother. MEMC is actually something most modern TVs have built-in. MEMC improves your video watching, on your TV, and you may not even know it. It makes your TV shows and movies smoother. On the flip side, very few smartphones actually support MEMC. Well, that’s where SVP jumps in. This app brings MEMC with it, and it’s the first video player that does that, at least the first one we’ve stumbled upon. This app is known as SVP or SVPlayer, and it stands for SmoothVideo Player, in case you were wondering. The app will essentially convert any video you’re watching to 60 fps or higher. You’d be surprised how many of them run at way lower fps.
It can stream content as well
Best of all, SVP is not limited to playing content from your smartphone. You can also stream content by using this player. It is worth noting that you can’t stream stuff from Netflix, or any other streaming service, though. What you should know is that MEMC is a bit hardware-intensive. This app doe support hardware-accelerated video decoding, but the conversion is very CPU-intensive nonetheless. Your phone needs to have at least 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 855-level chip to run this app. The app itself is built on top of mpv, an open-source video player that is also available on Android. SVP does come with all the regular features you’d expect out of a video player, including subtitle support. The bottom line is, this app has a lot to offer. If you’d like to try MEMC on your phone, just to see if you’ll notice the difference, feel free to try this app. You can download it from the Google Play Store (link below).
