Before we get into those details, it’s worth noting here that the Dimensity 9000 is MediaTek’s flagship chipset offering for 2022. It’s the company’s alternative to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Samsung’s Exynos 2200. When reports of this Dimensity processor powering a Samsung phone first emerged, it did raise a few eyebrows. Since the Korean behemoth was all but confirmed to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 in its Galaxy S22 series, there were speculations that one of its Galaxy A series premium mid-range smartphones will use the Dimensity 9000. However, all of those expected devices have now come and gone, and none featured a MediaTek chipset. So which Galaxy is getting the Dimensity 9000 then? Well, according to the new rumor, it could either be the Galaxy A53 Pro or the Galaxy S22 FE. Now, the former will likely never exist unless Samsung is also mulling some naming changes for its Galaxy A series this year. So the Galaxy S22 FE seems to be the Korean brand’s candidate for the Dimensity 9000 processor. While the ‘FE’ series phones have so far come with the same chipset as their bigger siblings, the recent semiconductor shortage may not have allowed for that this year. Or maybe the price factor comes into play here.
The rumored pricing doesn’t fit the Galaxy S22 FE billing though
The new rumor suggests the upcoming Dimensity 9000-powered Samsung smartphone will feature a 4,500mAh battery. It will cost between CNY 3,000 (roughly $470) and CNY 4,000 (~$630) in China. But an ‘FE’ phone won’t come that cheap. The Galaxy S21 FE, for instance, starts at CNY 4,599 (~$725) in China. So there’s still a possibility that Samsung would launch another Galaxy A series premium mid-range phone in the coming months. Perhaps a Galaxy A83 or a Galaxy A93. The Galaxy A90 did come with the flagship Snapdragon 855 processor back in 2019, the same chipset that also powered the Galaxy S10 series that year. So it’s nothing new. Either way, it’s too early to say for sure. If the rumor of the Galaxy S22 FE coming with the Dimensity 9000 processor is true, then we should hear more about it in the coming months. We will keep you posted.
